I remembered all those weddings I had attended and how I had laughed as my friends got married one by one. Some of those weddings will be remembered for years and years to come especially because of the speeches.
When my friend Jeff got married his buddy Eric (who I'd never et before) gave such a great funny bestman speech I though the wedding reception guests were going to bring the house down. After the dinner he was being treated like a rock star (especially by the brides maids but that's another story).
This may seem strange but I am one of those guys who really likes weddings. So I was super excited to be going to my best friend's!
Unfortunately though very soon my excitement turned to dread and fear as I realised I would have to be entertaining, captivating and worst of all - funny!
I was so frightened at the prospect of writing the most important speech of the wedding that, to be truthful, I left it for weeks and weeks before I even considered starting on it.
I don't advise you to take the same strategy!
Plan ahead. The more time you have the better you will make your speech and the more people will enjoy it.
Although I was very nervous at first once I started to research bestman speeches I became even more nervous. I thought it would be just a matter of looking up some websites and joining different ideas together - boy was I wrong.
Luckily I did find some great resources that helped me write a bestman speech that some of my friends still talk about today and one that Matt and Joanne regularly fast-forward to on their wedding dvd when showing friends.
